THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING FAITHFUL
8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; 9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. 11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
AT FIRST GLANCE ONE MIGHT SAY WHAT DOSE THIS HAVE TO DO WITH US? THIS WAS WRITTEN THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO TO A CHURCH IN SMYRNA. THE ANSWER IS WHAT APPLYED TO THE CHRISTIANS OF THAT DAY CONCERNING FAITHFULNESS STILL APPLY THE CHRISTIANS OF THIS DAY. THERE ARE NOT MORE THAN ONE STANDARD FOR CHRISTIANS OF ANY TIME.
FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD AND OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST REQUIRES FAITHFULNESS, READING AND STUDYING THE WORD ON REGULAR BASES, PRAYING, WORSHIP INDIVUALLEY OR CORPORATELY.
GOD IS, ALWAYS HAS BEEN, AND ALWAYS WILL BE FAITHFUL IN KEEPING HIS HOLY WORD. FAITHFUL IN REWARDING THE FAITHFUL BELIVER, BORN AGAIN CHILD OF HIS, WITH EVERY PROMISE MADE TO THEM. AND JUST AS FAITHFUL IN PUNISHING THE WICKED AND EVIL DOERS.
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
SOME MAY SAY I'VE TRIED AND FAILED SO MANY TIME'S, GOD'S GRACE IS STILL SUFFICIENT 2 COR.12:9
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
THERE ARE THOSE THAT BELIEVE THEIR TEMPTATION'S ARE MORE SEVERE THAN ANYONE ELSE.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
REGUARDLESS OF HOW I MAY VIEW MY CERCUMSTANCE'S I MUST BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD IS CORRECT, WHAT IS PROMISED WE CAN HAVE IF WE BELIEVE AND OBEY.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
SUCCOUR- MEANING TO AID OR RELIEVE
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
EVEN WHEN WE HAVE DOUBT'S, OR FAIL, OR FALL, HE IS STILL FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS COME BACK TO HIM FOR THE HELP WE NEED.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
OBLIVIOUSLY THERE IS A GREAT DEAL UNSAID IN THIS TYPED MESSAGE. I PRAY AND TRUST THE HOLY GHOST WILL FILL IN THE SPACE'S IN THE READER'S HEART, AND THAT EACH WILL BE BLESSED BY GOD IN THE INNER MAN OF THE SPIRIT. MAY WE RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST IN OUR HEART'S AND BE TOGETHER WITH HIM AND WITH ONE ANOTHER IN THAT PLACE PREPARED FOR THOSE LOVE HIS APPEARING.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
